9:00 am            Introductions, background on program, tour of building & CBI

10:00 am           What is Science?

12:00 pm          Lunch The Colonial Café, Enterprise Hall

1:30 pm            What is Research? Research resources

3:00 pm            Organize research groups, develop ideas for projects

5:00 pm            Return to SpringHill Suites

 

Tuesday, July 22 (Crandall)

Reading Assignment: Unit 3 (Genetics), Chapters 10  & 13

8:45 am            walk to Innovation Hall, Classroom INNOVT-101

9:00 am            DNA, genes, and genomics

10:00 am           Break

10:30 am           Genomics tools, GenBank, BLAST

12:00 pm          Lunch The Colonial Café, Enterprise Hall

1:30 pm            Hands on Genomics

3:00 pm            Further develop research projects

5:00 pm            Return to SpringHill Suites

Include a DNA extraction, electrophoresis, PCR lab experience here.
